Prayer Request & Updates April 28, 2010

Dear Praying Partners;

We want to thank you so very much for praying for Gina and her problems getting her VISA.  I know many of you have been waiting to hear the great praise report that she will be staying through the end of the year, but God doesn't always work in the way we assume.  Give God praise because He is God and deserves our praise; HE is the one who has the completed tapestry and we only see a part of what He sees in whole.  Gina will be leaving us soon.  Her teaching contract will finish this Friday April 30th. The foreign police will not grant her another extension on her VISA paperwork, therefore, she will have to leave the country before the school year is completed.

Seeing God's timing in all of this has been amazing.  About 6 weeks ago I invited Gina to the annual International Chapel Ladies Retreat.  She was happy to accept my invitation.  On April 16-18th we spent the weekend in Austria hearing great teaching in English and singing praise with over 65 other ladies of all ages.  God already knew what Gina's future was and He made a way for her to be at this retreat to receive healing and closure to her ministry here in Europe.

On this past Saturday we organized a team picnic at a local park for Gina.  It was simple but a great chance for all of us to have time together to surround Gina with our love and support.

We also want to thank those of you who wrote with offers to assist with our Bible Project.  Again God showed me about His timing.  We were mulling over how many to order, if we could pay for the whole class (42) or if we should just buy for the 2 groups of students that Vic teaches. We decided that we must get the Bibles ordered because the most important is that they arrive on time for graduation on May 22nd.  The next morning after reading my devotions I thought I would check email, and there was an email from one of Vic's very first students 16 years ago saying that she and her husband would like to contribute;  This gift made it possible for the whole class to receive Bibles for graduation.  God's timing was really amazing!  He is teaching us to fully rely upon Him, and to be still and wait for His leading.

Please pray the Bibles arrive in plenty of time for graduation (not sure my nerves can take it if they arrive at the last moment but I am learning about timing remember!) I am attaching a picture of one of our special students, Maja, who we always talk about.  As you look at her picture won't you pray for Maja that one day the Word of God will be her Words of Life that she clings to for her identity and salvation.

Dominic heads to East Slovakia this weekend April 30th-May 2nd to do an evangelistic outreach with his youth group to the Roma people.  We are excited for him to be a part of this project.  Please pray that his heart will be touched and that God would use him to touch the hearts of the people.  The youth group is performing a drama and Dominic is the lead role, God has really blessed him with an outgoing personality and small children are drawn to him.

We praise God for the opportunity we had in April to take our first 2010 weekend bike trip.  The second day was a character building day as the wind blew at 30+ miles per hour and the rain hit our faces.  At one point, Ana just gave up so Vic put a few bunji cords together and pulled her along behind him.  It gave her the courage to keep pressing on.  When we arrived home she was bragging to Dominic how she made it! Dominic said "sure, Dad was pulling you" and Ana replied, "no he wasn't he just pretended like he was to make me feel better".  We chuckled that she realized the bunji cords were not actually pulling her, we knew that, and she knew that,  but the idea did the trick and got her home.

Some other upcoming prayer needs are:

    • May 7-9th We will be assisting ABWE missionaries in central Slovakia with a weekend language camp.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will pave the way for the Word to be spoken and received.

    • May 22nd Graduation, an annointing on the distribution of the Bibles.

    • Please also pray for additional support committments to come in for our work; we will not be able to continue to minister here after July 31st without the additional funding needed. To begin partnering with us, a giving form is attached.

    • Pray for us to remain yielded to God's will as we wait upon Him for our next steps.
      • `O LORD, the God of my master, Abraham, if you are planning to make my(our) mission a success, please guide me (us) in a special way. Genesis 24:42

We are so very grateful for your faithful partnership.  We have over 40 people and 2 churches who joined us in a financial committment 4 years ago, others who joined along the way in the work, and hundreds who partner with us in prayer as we serve in cross-cultural missions.  We are together a team reaching a part of the World with the redeeming message of Jesus Christ.

With Gratitude, Love & Blessings,
Darla
Vic, Dominic & Ana too!

A quote that is resounding with me this month, given to me by a special supporter;
Faith is recognizing that God is the Lord of time when my timing isn't always in agreement with with His.
